Evening Beach and Maritime Forest Walk

There’s a whole different side to the island after the sun goes down. On this guided evening walk, you’ll explore the beach and maritime forest as daylight fades into night. We’ll watch the sky shift at sunset, look up at the stars, and search for nocturnal wildlife as it begins to emerge. Along the way, we’ll talk about how these habitats change after dark and how animals are adapted to life at night. Keep an eye out for ghost crabs on the beach, nighttime sounds in the forest, and whatever else the island reveals after hours.This experience includes about two hours of walking over changing terrain, from forest paths to soft sand, so come ready to explore after dark.

Pre-trip information

Arriving: You will sign in at the front deck of the aquarium. We will discuss a few safety things and information.

What to wear:  Comfortable walking shoes for the beach and forest. Light-weight clothes for hot summer temperatures. If you’re eager to get wet, feel free to dress accordingly, though getting wet can be avoided.  

What to bring: water bottle, bug spray,flashlight  change of clothes and shoes, bag for wet items

Cancellation policy: If you cancel with 48 hours notice by emailing excursions@disl.edu, you will receive a refund. If DISL cancels the Excursion, you will be notified through the contact information you supplied in your registration, and you will receive a refund.
